'Mahaw ta ninyo! :)
This is called "Pamahaw Series". In Cebuano, "Pamahaw" means breakfast.
This is a series of illustrations I did to showcase different types of Filipino breakfasts.

Pan de Sal with cheese and Coffee

Pamainit : a prelude to breakfast. From the word "init" which means "hot" or "warm", Pamainit is a meal you have at dawn or early morning to warm the stomach before you have the actual breakfast. But sometimes, like me, this pamainit is already my breakfast then I go straight to lunch after 😁 This is my favorite pamainit, pan de sal and cheese with kape. It is so much better with goat cheese, but if there's none, then any cheese will do. Traditionally, it is pan de sal with sardines or just plain pan de sal. But I am a big fan of cheese so there you go 😉

Buwad (Dried Fish) with egg, tomatoes, rice and Coffee

Pamahaw, or Breakfast in Cebuano. This meal is usually eaten a few hours after the Pamainit. But most of the time, we go straight to breakfast and skip the pamainit. Especially if the meal is this good! This is one of my favorite filipino breakfasts. This is dried fish or buwad (my favourite is danggit pinikas) with egg and rice. Perfect with coffee! If I can, I would eat it everyday haha! If available, always eat with tomatoes and cucumber on the side. Don't forget your suka! :)

Tocino, eggs and rice with Coffee

The last leg for my favorite pamahaw series is this tocino, egg with garlic rice meal! I like my tocino or longganisa burnt and crunchy. and my egg is a bit soft and liquidy, (according to my daughter) or also called malasawon. the kind when you poke it, the liquid yolk comes out

Puto Maya (white) or Puto Maya with Tapol (black rice)
and also Budbud with Coffee

Another breakfast favorite sans the rice. This is Puto Maya (white) or Puto Maya with Tapol (black rice) and also Budbud with Coffee. Puto and Budbud are both made of sticky rice, sugar, ginger (for puto) and coconut milk and wrapped in banana leaves. They can also be a pamainit and for merienda... if there's some left over. Perfect with sikwate (hot chocolate) and our famous Cebu sweet ripe mangoes 😉
